Devotional for October 2, 2025 with Rev. Steven Taylor
God never lets our pain go to waste. In Christ, our deepest suffering can showcase God's incredible presence and power in our lives. As he concludes his powerful series, "Holy Suffering: Revealing God’s Glory Through the Fire," Rev. Steven Taylor will explore one final, crucial question: How can our suffering reveal the glory of God?
“…so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11b (NRSV)

Thank you for this week’s devotional as it brought back the memories of a few years ago. In the course of a year, my brother in-law, mother in-law, and my niece all passed away. As I was grieving, caught up in the loss, I was praying, saying how confused, and yes, angry I was... ”Lord it hurts” ”Lord please help me understand this” And while I sat there in silence, I remembered that even though they were close to me, for my wife’s sister, it was much more close to home. For her, it was her husband, then her mother, then her daughter, {who left behind 2 small children). Yet there she was... every Sunday... praising God.. hands raised... singing songs... serving others... It was a living testimony to me... something I will never forget... my faith was strengthened through that suffering... my sister in-law Mary Lynn’s reaction took my prayer life to a new level... a level where I felt more confident to pray for others and over the next year or so, I started serving on the Northeast Regional Prayer and Intercession Team. God used that pain to show his glory and is still showing it through the countless people I will pray for and over for the rest of my life. Thank you, Steve, for this week’s devotional that took me down memory lane and reminded me that His grace is sufficient. 🤜🏼🔥🤛🏼 Sam
